alpine skis

Ski selection, both model and length, always will be a very personal and subjective decision.  When making your length decision, we have found the following factors should be taken into consideration.

Optimal ski length is typically determined by the following order: weight, ability, height, and aggressiveness.  Less aggressive advancing skiers should error on the shorter size, while more aggressive and accomplished skiers may choose to move up a size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the Rozi’s! Demo’d the Sky 7’s - Super flexible, easy turning and floated on Deer Valley powder!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredibly light! Remarkably light skis! Very quick and responsive. Only drawback, was a lot of chatter on the tips at high speed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easier to maneuver on groomers than I expected Have been demoing fatter skis in non powder days to see how they ski and the Sky7 skies shorter than I expected and was easier to turn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun East Coast everything skis I got this ski last year in 2017. I mounted them with marker baron frame touring bindings to use as a backcountry and a pow ski. Coming from a racing background I like to arc turns. The sky works great as an east coat touring ski, but can still arc over on some softer snow but you can tell its a bit soft when on hard snow or icy moguls. Took a trip out to whistler last year and the skis were perfect. Skied off Ruby's latter after 2 feed of snow as well as peak chair for a few days with no problem as as used all over Vermont this past fall earning some turns. Bottom line, great skis.

Questions

I've been trying to decide between the experience line and the 7 series. I used to patrol on Viper X. My ski day is usually about 50% on groomed, 50% off. Would a Sky 7HD or a Experience 100 be a better ski? I ski on the west coast, I am 6'1" 250lbs.

Asked by: matts
Hello! The Experience 100 is heavier and has larger sidecuts than the Sky 7. The Sky 7 is lighter and will be more playful. Considering your height and weight, we recommend you to take the 190cm for the Experience 100 or 188cm for the Sky 7. Enjoy skiing!

I demo-ed Sky 7s and really like them for combining quick full turns with still being able to float and turn on powder. I’m a good intermediate skier, 65, and not super aggressive. I’m 6 feet, 215 pounds. Should I buy 180 or 188 cm.

Asked by: Griz27
Hi, Based off of the information that you provided, we would recommend the 180 cm length. We would suggest going into an authorized Rossignol dealer to get your hands on this pair of skis. Bought Rossi Sky 7 (98mm underfoot) with the recommended Look SPX 12 / 100 bindings, The brake seems to drag on the edge of the ski when engaging. Will this cause a problem? Should the brake be bent/adjusted to prevent this? Do I need a bigger brake size?

Is the shovel flex of the Sky similar to the Sin, which I am now skiing? Or is the flex stiffer with carbon matrix?

Asked by: VinnyS
Hello, The SKY 7 HD is the ski replacing the SIN 7. The first benefit from the CARBON ALLOY MATRIX. This innovation allows the ski to be stronger and more efficient than the SIN 7. The flex stiffness are the same for these both skis. Enjoy skiing! The Rossignol Team!

I'm looking at buying a pair of either Sky 7 HDs or the new Sin 7s. Which would be better for mostly all mountain skiing with some freeride skiing?

Asked by: adjohnston99
Hi, The Sky 7 HD and the Sin 7 are very similar to one another. The Sky 7 HD has the new Air Tip 2.0 technology which makes it lighter, damper and stronger, so it will perform better overall. Also, the Sky 7 HD has a Paulownia core vs the more price point poplar core in the Sin 7. The Paulownia is lighter, with the ski-ability, so it will be easier to ski throughout the day. Other than that, their shape is very close, which makes both of them recommended for someone who is looking to ski all over the hill. Enjoy Skiing! The Rossignol Team!

Is the women and men Sky 7 the same, are there other differences than just graphics? I'm intermediate, 170cm, 52kg and will ski mostly all mountain, some freeride. Thinking that the lenght 164cm would fit me. But the women version is 162 cm and men 164cm.

Asked by: Elisabeth
Hello, The SKY 7 HD and the SKY 7 W are the same skis. We recommend to intermediate skiers to ski the SKY 7 HD on size. We recommend you to ski the SKY 7 HD in size 170cm. Enjoy skiing! The Rossignol Team!

Why choose the SKY 7 HD

AIR TIP 2.0

AIR TIP2.0 – our new reinforced 3D design is lighter and stronger with a perfectly integrated construction for amplified power, stability, and float. Reduced weight at the extremities concentrates ski mass underfoot, freeing the tips and tails for effortless maneuverability, natural floatation, and playful control in the deepest snow conditions.

FREE VAS

FREE V.A.S. employs visco elastomer through the rocker/camber transition zone to absorb vibrations and reduce tip deflection when skiing through variable snow conditions, increasing comfort, stability, and control.

CARBON ALLOY MATRIX

A new generation of super-fiber, CARBON ALLOY MATRIX delivers high-definition (HD) power, stability, and edge grip while remaining ultra-lightweight. Our unique carbon/basalt diagonal weave combines with linear glass stringers, delivering a balanced flex from tip-to-tail with dynamic mobility, maximum vibration absorption, and titanal-like strength.

SIDEWALL

SIDEWALL constructions feature a layering of core materials (wood, fiberglass, metal, etc.) and full-length vertical sidewalls to deliver optimized edge grip, precision, balance, and power.

POWDER ROCKER

Designed for the deepest powder days, our most progressive rocker/camber profile delivers an award-winning balance of confident versatility and effortless float. The blend of longer, lower tip rocker, tapered tail profile, and traditional camber underfoot allows easy steering, instant speed control and the power, energy, and grip to get you back to the lift.

PAULOWNIA WOODCORE - CAM

This high-performance sandwich construction features a lightweight PAULOWNIA wood core, reducing weight by 30% for enhanced agility, maneuverability, and control while CARBON ALLOY MATRIX technology supplies high-definition power, stability, and grip without the additional weight of metal laminates.
