What clothing should I wear for a hike?
If you’re hiking at high altitude or in very cold weather, try the 3-layer system. This involves layering 3 technical garments in different materials (for breathability, insulation and protection) on your upper body.
How to Choose the Right Hiking Shoes?
If you’re setting out on a hike, the right footwear is essential. Different types of footwear are available for every activity and to suit every preference.

The mountains have risks too, and as you gain altitude, the sun becomes increasingly aggressive. The weather conditions can also change very quickly in the mountains, so it’s essential to carry sun protection even if the forecast is for bad weather.
Always pack sunglasses, sun cream and, very importantly, a cap to avoid sunburn and sunstroke.
And for anyone who feels the cold, you can also carry a headband to keep your head warm at the summit where the wind is likely to pick up.
Food and Snacks
Food is an essential part of any energetic day in the great outdoors. Always remember to pack a picnic lunch containing a varied selection of nutrients. If you’re setting out on a half-day trip, take a snack or some cereal bars to ward off hunger pangs.
And whatever food you take with you, don’t forget to pack a little bag to take all your rubbish back home.
Essential items for your backpack
Hydration (Water Requirements)
The most essential element for your day out will always be water. During exercise, it’s important to drink regularly rather than waiting until you feel thirsty. We recommend you carry at least 1.5 litres of water per person with you for the day.
Hygiene on the Trail
It’s also a good idea to pack some toilet paper, provided you remember to take a plastic bag so you don’t throw anything away!
First-Aid Kit
To be prepared in case of any accidents, pack a small first-aid kit containing a few essentials that may vary depending on your fitness and the age of your hiking companions. Here are some ideas: disinfectant, sterile compresses, dressings for blisters, paracetamol, a knife, arnica (granules or gel)...
Camera and Electronics
Finally, for all those who love making memories, take your camera or simply your smartphone with you to capture every moment in the great outdoors.
