We Rise – Rossignol Women

Q&A with Franzi KASISCHKE

Q&A with Franzi KASISCHKE, Rossignol Women program influencer.

Who are you? Tell us more about where you live, what you do, what you like…

Hi, I’m Franzi. I live in southern Germany right next to the Austrian and Swiss border. I am currently studying to become a teacher for Sports and Economics. Ever since I can remember outdoor sports have been a huge part of my life. As a kid I was a alpine ski racer and I even snowboarded for a couple of years before I fell in love with freeride skiing. Besides that my parents on an early age always took my brother and I to the Alps to skiing, hiking, climbing and biking so I basically grew up loving the mountain life. Today, when I am not at university I am on my skis as much as I can and explore the mountains and new lines in summer while hiking or biking. I love the outdoors and all the adventures which are out there.

Why did you apply to become a Rossignol Women ambassador?

Franzi KASISCHKE

I have been skiing Rossignol skis for a while before I reached out and I absolutely loved the skis and so when the sponsoring question came up it was sure for me that I wanted to be with Rossignol. Also, with Rossignol being one of the oldest and biggest companies on the European Ski market it is an honor to be part of such a great company full of history and expertise.

What’s your favorite product in our ranges?

Franzi KASISCHKE

My favorite skis are the Rossignol Blackops 118 in 176cm and the new Blackops Rallybird TI in 180cm. I also really like the Alltrack Ski Boots and the goggles with Carl Zeiss Lenses.

When you’re not skiing in winter, you’re biking or hiking in summer. What do you like in outdoor sports?

Franzi KASISCHKE

I am a winter person, I absolutely love snow and skiing and could do it the whole year around but summer is fun too. I like to go hiking and climbing as a well as mountain biking. Apart from that I try to drive down to the Atlantic ocean to go surfing as much as possible.

You’re a freerider, what do you like in this discipline?

Franzi KASISCHKE

Freeride Skiing to me means total freedom. There is something very special about seeing a line, hiking and skiing it. It’s just you, your friends and nature out there – no hustle and stress just fun and adventure. Apart from the inside feeling – skiing fresh powder and a new line is just the best feeling in the world to me.

What are your favorite places to ski/snowboard?

Franzi KASISCHKE

My favorite ski resorts in Europe are Kaunertaler Gletscher, Silvretta Montafon and Sonnenkopf (all in Austria) and in North America it’s Revelstoke and Mount Washington. I also used to really like Engelberg in Switzerland but it has gotten super crowed over the last couple of years.

Do you have a ski/snowboard/bike anecdote to share with us?

Franzi KASISCHKE

When I was 14 years old I had a pretty bad crash skiing which actually turned out to be the reason why I quit racing and starting freeride skiing and I no regrets until today ;).

Who’s your favorite athlete? Why?

Franzi KASISCHKE

My favorite athlete is Tatum Monod. Ever since I started getting into Freeride Skiing I was looking up to her skiing, breaking boundaries and just being a badass ski and nature girl. I also admire her courage and commitment in coming back from several hard injuries and never giving up on her dreams.

What’s your motto in your life?

Franzi KASISCHKE

If it makes you happy – go for it and don’t take life too serious but focus on having fun.

Do you want to tell us something more?

Thanks for supporting me and I am super excited for another winter season with the Rossignolwomen team! (if Corona will let us ;)).
