Just over a year ago Rossingol athlete Max Mancini and girlfriend Molly Jackson were involved in a very tragic car accident. Molly, who was pregnant, did not survive the crash. Max was immediately taken to the ICU at St Anthony’s Hospital in
Now just over a year from the accident Max has taken a new view on life. Currently the designs are in for the First ever Freeheel Pro Model ski, to be released in the fall of 2009. The ski will be based on the S7, and Max and best friend/ artist Dustin Handley created the concept for the graphics. After countless hours of playing with concepts of light and dark, day and night, and large storm systems, Dustin finalized the design for the System S7. What stands out about this ski is that all of the Royalties from the Pro Model will be donated to the Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO. “It has always been a goal of mine to have a pro model ski, but this one is particularly exciting because it is going to be benefiting such a great cause”-Max
Max is also working on starting “Life Turns” a camp for children living with illness. Because there are so many conditions that require children to spend the better part of their childhood in and out of hospitals, Life Turns was created. The goal of the camps is to give children living with illness a break from hospitals, doctors and treatments while building friendships and enjoying winter activities. The first of the camps is to be held the spring of 2009 and the campers are encouraged to invite their siblings to attend. “Skiing for me has been such a tremendous therapy for every thing I have been through, It has given me so much and it is my hope that I can share that with others. After my accident I really felt that I need to add a more philanthropic aspect to my life, and being inspired by Brad Ludden and First Descents, Life Turns is born”.-Max
