XAVIER DE LE RUE : A (very) busy man

You could think being focus on big mountain riding means waiting for the good snow to dump before doing anything…
Here is a quick sum up of my schedule over the last month to give you an idea.
29th-30th London: Relentless Freeze / Deeper Premiere
Cool to meet up the relentless crew and Jeremy in London, lot’s of people  and a cool party. I got to spend times with my little brother Victor who was competing at the world cup.
31st – 3rd Sales meeting The North Face in Austria. It’s good to meet up with all the people from Europe. Passionate people and good vibes, what else? Oh yeah, Halloween party rocked that’s what else ! ( ain't no water in that gun !)
5th trip to Lorient, yep, no mountain or press conference there. I went sailing with Aurélien Ducroz on his boat, we filmed for Nissan Freeride spirit
6th back to Paris for a seminaire with the sncf, national rail company for which I’m an ambassador.
7th-10th : I went to Banff Canada for few days and a The North Face athlete summit, I got to meet up with all the other TNF athletes. We had meetings to give feedback and input on products, communications and future projects, Rider driven company !
11-14th : Verbier – Nissan freeride spirit and checking line for next year, you’ll discover that in Episod 1 of TimeLine coming out before mid december.
15th : Rossignol photoshooting at the Headquarter for Ispo snowboard booth, I spent the evening with Petzl people at mountain film festival in Grenoble to present Relentless lives of the artists : Follow me down, our last year antarctica trip.
16th : off to London for a press conference for the freeride world tour
17th : then to paris for another freeride world tour press conference , CHO from Eurosport was there for Nissan Freeride spirit program. Jah Love !
18th-22nd : Home sweet home, back to Pyrenees and St Lary for few days. My brother Polo and I spent a day filming for asylum project a fiction documentary, kind of weird and interesting, I’ll let you know when it’s out. I’m curious about the result.
22-29th Back to Verbier, spending time with my daughter, organising the season and trips with Tero and Guido
Now I’m on my way to Swatch snowmobile in Saalbach, Austria, where usually hell breaks loose. Check out pics from previous year and you’ll get an idea. I hope I’ll come alive from it as I fly on the 5th to Canada for couple week of a Nissan Expedition with my mates from the Nissan team.

Michal Ligocki 3th at the Monster Fridge Big Air

Xavier de Le Rue awarded « stand out of the year » at TransWorld SNOWboarding Rider Poll and Snowboarder Magazine Big Mountain of The Year following his freshly Snowboarder Magazine Big Mountain rider of the year title, awarded by la crème of snowboarding for the past decade.

Xavier de Le Rue’s name got shouted loud and clear at the Fillmore auditorium in Denver on January 29th during the 11th Annual TransWorld SNOWboarding rider poll award when winner of the Stand out performance of the year got announced. The snowbard scene voice made it clear there were yet another Big Mountain Rider to watch out by awarding Xavier Standout Of The Year for hair-raising, big-mountain lines in Alaska.
“In the last few years I re discovered snowboarding”, stated Xavier de Le Rue “Getting the chance to film has been so cool and gave me the opportunity to share what’ I’ve been doing with other people. Being awarded for this is the best honour I could receive and it makes me want to do only better in the future. It feels great to get that recognition from the riders themselves. I’d like to give a big shout out to my sponsors and Standard films people who believed in me!”
Xavier had two amazing seasons which led him to cumulate not only competition titles:  Back to Back Nissan Freeride World Tour world Champion, back to back overall (yes that means snowboard and ski) best line of the Nissan FWT presented by Swatch, Overall winner of Swatch O’neill Big Mountain Pro, but as well video segments in both Aesthetica and Black Winter from Standard Films and Relentless Lives of the Artist movie with the Greenland trip.
Next year Xavier will be visible in various many high anticipated video flicks: Deeper by TGR, next Standard Films video and Relentles production “Lives of the artists 2” with the Antarctica trip and he’s in the list of riders filming for next Transworld video.

There is nothing more enjoyable than knowing your peers appreciate your performances at their real value. Xavier De Le Rue is on his way to get that recognition. In a two years period his status changed from relatively unknown freerider to one of the best big mountain rider out there. Projects he’s on and his video segment are receiving props from the snowboard scene.

The Relentless movie, Lives of the artists, premiered in London in December, with a Greenland segment filmed with Xavier received the best shooting award and special prize of the jury at the international freeride film festival in St Lary. (

On a personal level, his « Black Winter » segment in lastest Standard video has been nominated at Transworld Rider Poll award as standout performance of the year and it’s nominated for best line at Cold Smoke Award. To finish with award Xavier will be on the other side of the fence as he’s part of the jury at a video contest open for pro and amateur, Xavier won the pro category last year and he’s now in the jury.
Life is not all about getting award or being nominated, Xavier is leaving Tuesday 19th of January to Sochi to take part of the first comp of this year Nissan Freeride Wolrd Tour to defend his back to back freeride world champ titles and aim for a three-peat.
Sochi will happen on January 21st then Xavier will attend Chamonix stop on January 30th.
