JACOBSEN SECOND OF THE TOUR DE SKI

Riders in this news :  Astrid Uhrenholdt JACOBSEN

What a strong performance for Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen during this 8th edition of the Tour de Ski. With 6 podiums in 7 races including one victory, the racer from Rossignol Team finishes second of the Overall ranking behind Therese Johaug and ahead of Heidi Weng. The Norwegian wins the Tour de Ski Sprint ranking.  “I had a good feeling when I started today. I knew Therese is a strong climber. I skied my own speed. Therese passed me fast. In the last kilometre, I did not lose too much. It was a strong performance from me. Second place is a great performance. I’m happy about the Tour de Ski and that I showed all-round skills.” She recorded the 2nd fastest time (35:04.0) on Alpe Cermis stage followed by Liz Stephen (also from Rossignol Team) of USA (35:18.5) who crossed the line 7th at the top. After this Tour de Ski, Astrid Jacobsen takes the second place of the Overall World Cup.
Relive all the best moments!
Stage 1: Oberhof (GER) Prologue ladies 3.0 km free
Despite very bad conditions, Norway’s Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen has signed her first podium this season with a second place in the Prologue of Tour de Ski. Her last podium was during the Tour de Ski, a third place last year in 3km C in Toblach: “After the first round I felt very fast. I am very happy about my result. The body responded very well. It was a good day. I am thankful for a chance to compete here.”
After Stage 4, Jacobsen leads the Tour de Ski
After her second place during the Prologue, Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen took yesterday the second position of the Sprint Freestyle. Today, during the 10km Classic, she ends, one more time, just behind the winner Kerttu Niskanen.  But she is now leading the Overall ranking of the Tour de Ski! “It was a tough competition today. I am happy for the result not only because I am in the lead of the Tour de Ski but also in the view of the Olympic qualification. I am taking the Tour stages as they come and try to be focused. I think Therese is the biggest favorite for the Tour de Ski victory.
Victory of Jacobsen in Stage 5!
Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen continues to be very strong in this Tour de Ski. After three second places, the racer from Rossignol Team has found the way of the victory! She ended first of the 15km Pursuit Free in Toblach (ITA) ahead one of the favorite Therese Johaug and Anne Kylloenen. Before the two last races, she is always leading the Overall ranking of the Tour de Ski. “It was a tough competition. I was little bit tired after the first lap, the course is quite hard in Toblach. I was happy there was a feeding station. I felt better in second half of the race. I am happy that my shape has been so good. It is a good sign for the Games, which are the biggest goal for me. I still think that Therese (Johaug) is the biggest favorite for the overall victory in the Tour de Ski. She has been always very strong on the Final Climb” (Quote: FisSki.com)
Stage 6: Jacobsen keeps the rythm
Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen finishes 2nd of the 5km Classic (+14.9) ahead of her Norway’s teammate Therese Johaug. She is always the current leader of the Tour de Ski Sprint & Overall before the last stage but she knows that it will be difficult to get to the Alpe Cermis in first position. "I think I wanted the podium more than the other girls. Towards the end I decided I go for it as much as I can. I feel I am in a very good shape and I can compete with almost everybody. I do not think much about the overall result in the Tour de Ski. It’s already a great achievement for me to be in the leading position before the final stage. I am happy that there is a high chance that a Norwegian lady crosses the finish on Alpe Cermis in first place. " (Quote : Fis Ski)
