Heinz LOHLE was recently in Kopaonik (Serbia) for the WHOOP Festival, held from February 9th to February 11th.
Counting for the 2009 FIS Snowboard Euro Cup, this music and snowboard event has been a real success with a really stoked public watching pros ride! The contest even ended with a really nice freestyle "by night" session!
“Getting back from a trip in Serbia last Friday, seeing these tons of snow back home really impressed me. I couldn’t reach Elias ELHARDT because he was probably on a mission with the Pirates. This made me think that I should take care of his home mountain… After a weekend on one of the best spots, I know now why this kid is so good! Now, I am relaxed enough to fly out for the Arctic Challenge...”
This weekend Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort hosted the 2nd annual North Face Masters of Snowboarding and the Rossignol team was there to represent!
After a tough day of qualifying in the area known as Silver Fox, the contest venue moved over to the challenging slopes of North Baldy, an area known for steep chutes and huge cliffs.
Saturday’s final saw plenty of Rossignol team riders battling it out including Forrest Shearer, Wyatt and Yancy Caldwell, Ralph Backstrom, Ryland Bell and Tyler Anderson in the men’s division and Snowbird local Camila Brown qualifying 5th for the women. When the dust settled Squaw Valley’s Ralph Backstrom stood on the podium in 2nd with Ryland Bell in 7th, and Snowbird’s own Tyler Anderson taking 10th after a really exciting run that would have surely put him on the podium if he could have only held on after sending a man-sized Cab 5 (switch frontside 540) off a nasty 40’ cliff.
In the women’s division Camila Brown put in a strong showing finishing just out of the top ten in 11th in her first contest ever!

At the beginning of this season, Brynild Vulin, Alex Evequoz, Gabriel Bessy and the photographer Mat Georges went to Kaprun (Austria) for a short snowboard trip. They found some good powder the first day but they had to go back to urban sessions the next 2 days because of bad weather conditions. Jibbing was very good until Alex found “his” dreamed spot… nobody agreed to ride the spot with him… strange… check out the video to understand.
Jeremy JONES was at ISPO for his fans biggest pleasure!
Riders in this news : ; Xavier DE LE RUE
This season Xavier DE LE RUE focus on filming a part for standards film and collecting new freeride titles. After a second place at the Russian stop of the Freeride World Tour he won for the second time the overall title of the Big Mountain Pro.
Here is Xavier point of view on why this edition was particular and which of his line he was digging the most.
« We rode pretty much everything that freeride can offer, from mini golf, small faces, big faces, to spine, long hiking period and we enjoyed forest riding as well during our resting day.
I really appreciated our day where kickers were places in our line, they were well shaped and didn’t affect our line fluidity. I did basic tricks ( bs 360 and FS 360) but I loved it.”
Find below the video of the very first day when Xavier discovered the first face to ride.
