Rossignol is proud to announce the arrival of two major figures from the freeride scene, who will strengthen our international team and help us make progress in freeskiing.
Enak GAVAGGIO, a charismatic figure and freeski icon, is an ultra-versatile skier - a talented freerider and X-Games Ski Cross winner. He will bring his experience, energy and passion to the team. Enak is the best product ambassador imaginable when it comes to representing Rossignol's Freeride ranges, whether it's skis, boots, bindings or clothing.
"Rossignol is an inspiration to me, a kind of legend. I love its authenticity. The fact that it's French also appealed to me. I hope we can do great things together, especially in Freeride to boost the S7 which is an exceptional ski. I am really proud to represent Rossignol."
Sam FAVRET, a 21-year-old from Chamonix, is a super-talented backcountry freerider, just as much at home committing to high-altitude lines as in freestyle. He is one of the brightest prospects of the new generation, a generation which is reinventing freeride by combining mountain knowledge, creativity and the ultra-modern style borrowed from freestylers.
"I am happy to be representing a French company. We already have loads of projects for next season. We're going to bring back as many images as possible from all over the planet and be able to tell some great stories."
"We want to build a team with a strong identity that reflects what freeride means to Rossignol: a diverse sport bringing different generations together and celebrating freedom, inspiration, enthusiasm and the pleasure of being in the mountains. In the S7 we developed skis that revolutionized freeride skiing: more fun, easier, more modern, more creative. We would like to work with athletes who represent those values and can contribute their energy and ideas. Enak is an extraordinary skier, so complete and very well respected on the scene. He's a creative spirit with a gift for inspiring others. We are very proud to have him with us. As for Sam, he has massive potential and will also be among those ushering in the renewal of freeride", said Yann Laphin, Rossignol Group's Communications Director.
On the freestyle side, the Rossignol half pipe team is continuing intensive training for the next Olympics. The sport is making its first appearance on the Olympic scene at the 2014 Sochi games. The team is very motivated and has made a good start to the season on the back of Benoît VALENTIN's 3rd places in the Freeski Open of New Zealand and the Cardrona World Cup in August. The 2010/2011 World Cup half pipe champion will have company this season in the shape of Joffrey POLLET-VILLARD, 2012 SFR Tour champion, and Xavier BERTONI, superpipe champion at the 2009 Aspen X-Games, 3rd in 2010 and a silver medalist in Tignes that year.
In North America, Parker WHITE brought home the award for best performance of the year at IF3, Montreal's International Freeski Film Festival, for his part in the Level 1 movie Sunny. For Franz Marsan, Rossignol Group's head of Freeski Sports Marketing: "Parker White has become THE big name. He skis at an incredible level with a unique style and never ending creativity".
As for Kye PETERSEN, winner of the 2012 Freeride World Tour Revelstoke and star of the multi-award winning film All I can (Sherpas Cinemas) and Dan TREADWAY, they continue to ski the world, in search of new terrain and the kind of shoots that dreams are made of.
