Straight after La Plagne' HalfPipe Worldcup finals, our two favorite Rossi riders Kevin Rolland and Xavier Bertoni flew to Laax. Yes sir! One the greatest freestyle event in Europe was on last week-end.
Laax' European Open is really fat, 5 days straight, top riders smash a superpipe and a slopestyle. 50.000$ Prize money, interesting.
After La Plagne quiet runs, Xavier Bertoni really rocked qualification' runs; 1st place, classy. Judges wanted Kevin Rolland to slide from classy to ashy; he ended 7th and did not go through semi-finals. Nothing went wrong it's just judges randomness.
Finals came up then and Xavier ended up 2nd. We though he would get the top stage after his second perfectly perfect run but still judges picked Matthew Phillipi' style.
Check the report right here. Enjoy.
A Globe for Kevin Rolland !!
The last stage of the ski halfpipe world cup took place in La Plagne, Kevin’s homeresort, on Thursday the 19th of March. Useless to say that Kevin was on fire for this final…
In the afternoon, the trainings were pretty sketchy for Kevin as he did a huge crash on a double flip try. But nothing could stop the young gun and he took the lead of the contest with a perfect second run. Check out the video. A first place that make him win the Crystal Globe in ski halfpipe. Congrats Kevin for this victory and this amazing winning season.
David Wise and Xavier Bertoni, both in Rossignol team, are completing the podium.
Last week drove to La Clusaz. As you’ve been told, La Clusaz threw its first Free Sessions. The whole thing is pretty easy to get, freeride sessions during the day and freestyle/jib runs as the night shows up.
Here is how it went: three Rossignol’ riders, one photographer and one cameraman, respectively Arnaud Kugener, Jean-Mi Goudain, Manu Gaidet, Nicolas Joly and Mathias Lopez. Manu’s and Jean-Mi’ freeride lines and Arnaud’s FS/BC and Jib sick runs have been shot and then edited so we can get a 3” video. By 3 o’clock on Sunday each team’s films were judged.
By Sunday we were standing on the podium: 1st Scott Team, 2nd Rossignol Team and 3rd Oakley Team. Yes! We endend up second, straight and pretty sweet.
