What a Sunday for Rossignol Team! After the two victories of Lara Gut in Downhill and Super G, Jessica Lindell Vikarby has signed her first career World Cup victory in giant slalom on the Birds of Prey. Sweden’s racer was just 0.09 seconds faster that Mikaela Shiffrin and 0.56 seconds faster that Tina Weirather. After two controlled runs, she claims the 4th podium of her career.
It's been a long since I last stood on a podium and I am really pleased to be there again. I've been working hard the last three years on my GS technique and I am obviously very happy it's paying off. Being in the lead after the first run was something new to me. I was for sure nervous, but tried to relax, breathe and stay calm. I'm glad it worked out in the end. Conditions today were perfect, I couldn't even tell that 29 racers ran before me. Simply a great day” (FisAlpine)
Jessica’s teammate Maria Pietilae-Holmner ended third of the first run but finally took the 4th position, her best result in the discipline. Anémone Marmottan is 6th, Federica Brignone 7th, Marie-Pier Prefontaine 9th like Tessa Worley our GS World Champion.
Ragnhild Mowinckel has closed her amazing week-end with an 8th place in GS after having marked her first WC points in downhill. “I'm totally speechless! I can't believe that just happened!! I'm floating on pink clouds”, she said on twitter.
Lara Gut, winner of the Downhill and the Super G, unfortunately did not finish the first run: “I touched the snow with my inside boot in the middle steep section, lost contact and started sliding on my side”. But she leads always the overall standings with 300 points.
Congratulations to all the Rossignol’s ladies for this exciting weekend! Next stages will take in Lake Louise (Canada) with two downhill races and one Super G.

BEAVER CREEK, SUPER G: Lara Gut fastest once again

Riders in this news :  Ilka STUHEC  ; Lara GUT

Lara Gut signs her third victory in three races this season! It’s her 12th World Cup career podium, her third victory in Super G. Despite two mistakes on the top of the slope, the racer from Rossignol Team was definitively too strong for her opponents today!
I wasn't sure what the right technique was going to be before the start. I was very aggressive in the top section and made two mistakes because of that. I understood then what was the best way to continue and I managed to be very clean on the line until the finish line. When you like the slope, everything feels easier. The snow was great and the course set was also fine. It is simply a lot of fun to ski the raptor. I've been working every day to ski faster, so hopefully it will go on!"
Please note also the solid run of Ilka Stuhec 4th of the Super G, her best career result in World Cup!

Riders in this news :  Lara GUT

Two races, two victories this season for Lara Gut!  After her first place in Sölden’s giant slalom, the Swiss racer has dominated the downhill in Beaver Creek ahead of Tina Weirather (+0.47) and Elena Fanchini (+0.98). The skier from Rossignol Team signs her second victory in this discipline and her 11th World Cup podium.
Lara Gut was at her best after the trainings (two victories, one third place) and today, she was the favorite on this compact and aggressive snow.
Today the snow was a bit different, maybe like on the second day of training. I'm in good shape right now and really enjoyed fighting on this course. I tried to be as clean as possible on my skis and even if I didn't quite manage to do so today, I'm really happy it worked out well in the end.”
The 2013 Super G silver medallist could be proud to have control on this challenging “Raptor”, slope which will be the theater of the next World Championships in 2015.

After the technical races, speed races take places this weekend in Beaver Creek (USA) for the ladies and in Lake Louise (Canada) for the men. Some athletes of Rossignol Team give their goals for next season.

Stacey Cook (USA): “In the coming season I am really looking to build off the success and progress I have made in the last few seasons. I know I can be fast on any day and am looking to have confidence every race to go for the win. My biggest priority is to be prepared to have a great race at the Olympics. That includes qualifying, securing a good start position, and doing everything I can to feel ready and prepared on that day. I also want to give a chase for the Downhill World Cup Title. That would be a really special accomplishment for me!”
Didier Defago (SUI):I would like to come back in the Top 10 in Downhill and in Super G, to achieve a podium during the Classic Downhills in January and also a Top 3 in Beaver Creek. I never had a result on this slope. And also, I wish to win my qualification for the Olympic Games and to defend my title.”
Tommy Biesemeyer (USA): “This upcoming season, I hope to stay healthy and take my skiing to the next level. Of course the Olympics are a goal, but most importantly I want to say that I didn't leave anything on the hill at the end of the day. This feeling motivates me each day and I look forward to my opportunities this season. “
Ilka Stuhec (SLO): “I would like to improve my status between the best of downhill skiers and also move forward in Super G and GS. I wouldn't speak in numbers.“
Jan Hudec (CAN): “My goal is to win Lake Louise!”
Brice Roger (FRA): “I wish I will take my qualification for the Olympic Games because it’s a dream. I want to be part of the Top 15 in downhill, Super G and Combined. If I succeed, it will be a very nice season!”
Marie Marchand-Arvier (FRA): “2014 means Sochi for me. I would like to grab a medal during the Games. I should be in a good shape and make good results during the first races in Beaver Creek/Lake Louise/St Moritz/Val d'Isère. I want to give my best!”
