Xavier de Le Rue scored first place in Squaw Valley during the Freeride World Tour

03/Mar/2010

Xavier de Le Rue scored first place in Squaw Valley during the Freeride World. He ends up ranked first at the overall ranking before Xtreme Verbier, final of the tour.
"Although I was excited at the idea to challenge Tram Face which is a myth and fit my style of riding better, weather didn’t make it possible and it was a good surprise to shred Silverado again as the snow condition were great ! Regarding my run, I landed switch close to a rock and I had to do half cab right after but everything went fine. Today it was a great show. The new course format with best out of two runs counting for final ranking gave us the chance to go for it a bit stronger than usual. Still no one went crazy and took too much risks which is super good as well. It shows riders are real professional and that our sport is getting matured. Now I’m back home and filming for standard films as my priority, I will try to get as much lines as possible before the Xtreme Verbier and get fit for the Bec des Rosses!" Xavier

Xavier Jordan, snowboard head judge commented on Xavier’s run after the results were announced. « He did an amazing second run! Xavier went fast and without hesitation, he stomped a frontside 360° at the top then went for double cliff and ended up with a huge air on a cliff at the bottom, the whole run without any mistakes!

FWT: New victory for Xavier de Le Rue in Chamonix at the Nissan Russian Adventure

05/Feb/2010

Xavier de Le Rue won the Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch, relocated in Chamonix due to weather and avalanche risks in Russia.

The competition site, The North-East face of l’aiguille pourrie allowed riders to make choices between relatively mellow terrain with freestyle options or fast steep line Alaska style. Xavier decided to go for the second choice. He performed it de Le Rue style, combining fluid fast turns with radical cliff drop and clean landings. This breathtaking line would go unequalled for the rest of the competition and bring back Xavier in the game to defend his back to back freeride world champ titles.

Here are Xavier’s comments about the day
“I was already in Chamonix few days ago for the freeride world tour and I had big crashes, totally eaten by the pressure. I didn’t recognise myself as I did such stupid mistakes. Today there was this line that really attracted me and that looked really natural. I went in there, the snow was great, I forgot about the contest, I just had fun and it paid off, it’s a really good and I’m stoked to be going to the Olympics with that victory. It kind of reminds me where I’m from and that’s good.”

Xavier will not even have the time to savour his victory as he will leave Europe tomorrow morning for Mt Bachelor, Oregon to meet up with the French snowboard cross team for a week of riding and off media solicitations before heading to Vancouver Olympic games.

More news about Olympic experience soon.

TRIP/ Xavier De Le Rue...on his way back from Antarctica paradise!

16/Nov/2009

Xavier just coming back from Antarctica, he tell us more on his trip: " The boat is rolling through the Drake Passage.... We just left yesterday and all I can say about that trip is that this place is like something never seen before. We've had it amazingly good, we've had at least a little bit of sun everyday and most of all discovered this surprisingly powerful place.
The variety of the terrain, the snow quality and the challenges we've been going for have made this trip really special. It's been once again a pleasure to have Jeremy as a partner as we really enjoyed sharing our skills in these intense moments.
I won't say more for the moment but these pics will give you a rough idea of our trip.
Cheers,  XV    "

Thanks so much to playmakercommunication.com for the pictures... Matt, you're the MAN

TRIP Antartica / Drake passage... check!!

11/Nov/2009

"It's been two days since we've left Ushuaia. We still haven't reach the peninsula and I've spent most of my time lying in bed to avoid the sea sickness. I've puked a bunch of times.... but the sea seems to be getting better as we are approaching South Georgia Island. It’s quite unreal the atmosphere there is, crossing the famous Drake passage, (worse crossing in the world) surrounded by these massive waves. We've seen a few whales already, the crew is really excited despite the long journey... Can't wait to see what's on the other side...!"

TRIP/ Xavier is back to Antarctica

09/Nov/2009

As you might remember we tried last year to reach and hopefully ride the wonderful untouched steeps of the Antarctica Peninsula... Unfortunately, we got on the boat in Ushuaia but stayed three days ashore for mechanical reasons until we got told that the boat could not be repaired....
We are back, and not for the least!
Jeremy Jones and myself along with the relentless film crew are ready for new up coming adventures! Two movies, mainly Lives of the Artists 2, but some of the action will end up in DEEPER as well, Jeremy’s project. We are about to board the clipper adventure for a 40 hours boat ride across the scary "Drake Passage", supposed to be the worst crossing on the planet.... After that we'll have 7 days of actual riding...
We got split boards, all the hard gear we could ever need, we are fired up... All we can hope for are friendly weather and snow conditions. Let's see if mother Antarctica is willing to let us glide on the last continent...
Fingers crossed!
