After Cortina D’Empezzo (Ita) and Kijima Daïra (Jnp), the last stage ofthe
"Master Cup" is held in one of the most attached to the Alpine Skiing competition, Kirchberg inTirol (Aut)
The weather condition wasgreat this weekend in Kirchberg and over 30 avid skiers were present to express themselves on the trail of Gaisberg extremely well prepared for the event.
This challenging course, training track of Canadian national team, Jure Kosir, almost on the land, (winner of slalom hahnemkamm 1999) could give some valuable tricks to all master and very good skiers.
Nikki Lindner from Germany was the fastest and was really close to Jure’s time, but the “Master” is still unbeaten !
For the last stage of the season, Tessa Worley and Lara Gut from Team Rossignol end on the podium of the Giant Slalom in Lenzerheide. 2013 Giant Slalom World Champion Tessa Worley was first after the first run but she finally finishes second behind the unbeatable Tina Maze. She closes her season with the fourth position of the Giant Slalom World Cup counting four podiums, three third places (St Moritz, Courchevel, Semmering) and one second place here in Swiss for the finals.
“It was the last race of the season and I really wanted to do something good. But it’s not that easy. The season has been tough and long. I lost a lot of energy in the very hard top section of the course and my batteries were definitely low to finish strong. I’ve got no regrets. I pushed until the end and I’m really pleased with this 2nd place to end my super season.”
At home, the Swiss racer Lara Gut has concluded her season with a podium, a third place in Giant Slalom after taking two times the 4th place in this discipline this season in Aspen and St-Moritz.
“It’s only my second podium in Giant Slalom, after the one 4 years ago in Semmering and I’m of course really happy. I’ve managed to ski the way I wanted today, even though I made a couple of mistakes, especially in the 2nd run. When I’m stable on my skis, I’m usually fast. It’s a shame the season is ending while I’m starting to make podiums”
