Historic!

Riders in this news :  Martin FOURCADE

By taking the first place of the pursuit on Saturday in Kanthy-Mansiysk, Martin Fourcade wins the general ranking of the World cup. A real exploit at only 23 years old … Patrice Bailly-Salins and Raphaël Poirée realized this huge performance before him. He also takes the small globe of the pursuit and will try on Sunday to gain those of the Mass Start.

Finally! After 25 races on 26 and a beautiful victory in the pursuit of Kanthy-Mansiysk, I assure myself the victory of the general ranking of the World Cup 2012 and the small globe of the pursuit. The globe returns in France 8 years later after Raphaël Poirée! I am simply happy this evening to reach the major goal of my season. The race would be almost forgotten but she is magnificent and allows me to enjoy completely the victory of the general. With 19/20 and a beautiful head-to-head with Arndt Peiffer, I win here in Russia one year after my world title! Congratulations to the technicians who after a difficult day yesterday were magnificent.”

Final ranking World Cup of Pursuit
1. Martin Fourcade (FRA)  384 points (ROSSIGNOL)
2. Emil Hegle Svendsen (NOR) 348 points
3. Arnd Peiffer (GER) 257 points

Final ranking of the World Cup
1. Martin Fourcade (FRA) 1090 points (ROSSIGNOL)
2. Emil Hegle Svendsen (NOR) 992 points

Khanty-Mansiysk: The sprint and the small globe for Fourcade!

Riders in this news :  Martin FOURCADE

Today we leave the words to Martin Fourcade who tells us its day in Russia and the first race, the sprint.

"Hello / good evening according to your time zone! I was a little worried for two days (and at nights also) by the overall ranking of the world cup but all the tension however flew away once on my skis. Forgotten the mathematical thoughts and the probability! I take pleasure during this sprint in spite of the difficulty of the race due to a very slow snow. I win finally with beautiful one 10/10 for my 7th victory of the season in front of the German Peiffer and the Swede Lindström. This race allows me to take away the small globe of the sprint, the second of my career after the pursuit in 2010. I also increase my advance for the big globe. At two races of the end the future appears for best

There are two events before the end of the World cup: the pursuit and the mass start. Martin Fourcade has 86 points in anticipation of Emil Svendsen.

Final ranking World Cup of sprint
1. Martin Fourcade (FRA) 423 points (ROSSIGNOL)
2. Emil Hegle Svendsen (NOR) 378 points
3. Carl Johan Bergman (SWE) 287 points (ROSSIGNOL)

Stockholm, Sprint Classic : Peterson 2nd

Teodor Peterson(Rossignol) ends second of the sprint in Stockholm. Eirik Brandsdal wins the race, Len Valjas is 3rd. Note that Peterson gained last week the overall ranking of sprint with a victory in Moscow, two 2nd places in Davos and a 3rd place in Milano.

Teodor Peterson (SWE) : “I was lucky that I already secured the overall sprint World Cup title last week that I could enjoy this race today without a pressure. It was fun to ski here in this atmosphere and I give all to win but Eirik was just better. I will now enjoy the rest of the World Cup Final and ski all the races in Falun.

Incredible Fourcade!

Riders in this news :  Martin FOURCADE

Martin Fourcade became on Sunday triple world champion in Ruhpolding! After its gold medals in sprint and in pursuit, he wins the Mass Start. He had known until the end to this title even if he has made two mistakes in the shooting. He followed at first the rhythm imposed by Andreas Birnbacher who counted 0 fault before the last tour but who failed on the last shooting then resisted to the attacks of the Swede Björn Ferry at the end of race. He equals the record of Ole Einar Bjoerndalen and Raphaël Poirée, three gold medals in individual, at only 23 years.

I was unnerved against me after the individual race and the two relays. I didn’t’ show what I could do and I didn’t like the manner. I don’t return the gold to Alexis, Jean-Guillaume and Simon today but I give it to all the rest of the team and to the public. There are marvellous feelings, it’s incredible! I don’t fight to enter in a record book or to become a legend but whait I make during this World Championships, it’s huge. I’m happy, it’s only pleasure, it’s because of the word of the French Team. Now, I will focused on the finals in Kanty-Mansiysk and after on Sochi

The French biathlete leaves these World championships with four medals: the gold in sprint, pursuit and mass start, the silver during the relay. Team Rossignol is very proud of Martin's performance. Congratulations to this athlete who had chosen before the World Championships, to extend his adventure with our brand until the Olympic Games of Sochi in 2014.

Martin Fourcade also stresses his advance in the overall ranking of the World cup. Only 18th today, Emil Svendsen counts now 66 points of delay on the triple world champion. In Khanty-Mansiysk, Martin will have three races to win the big crystal globe.
