Marie through the eyes of Marion Rolland…
Marie in 3 words?
Determined, committed, determined.
Her main technical and mental qualities?
On skis, she knows exactly what she has to do and how to combine power and edge release. It’s as if her whole body knows exactly how to adapt to each type of slope.
She has a very solid mental mindset, even when she might doubt herself, she always manages to give the best of herself. She’s very good!
And what about her place on the team?
Of course she’s one of the leaders of the speed group. Her silver medal at the World Championships in Val d’Isère showed everyone the way. She’s a competitor on skis but also a very good friend in life.
Any particular memories with her?
At the World Championships in Val d’Isère, when she finished 2nd in the Super-G. I very quickly forgot my own disappointment, so great was her delight. A few days later, she was first to jump into my arms to congratulate me for my 5th place finish in the Alpine... that I had just taken off her...
Marie through the eyes of Dominique Gisin…
Marie in 3 words?
I’d say just three letters: MMA!
Her main technical and mental qualities?
She’s joined at the hip to her skis and can be very quick on the technical sections of the course. She’s fairly calm and can always create an upset.
Do you have any particular memories with her?
The Super G at the World Cup at Val d’Isère. I was following her run on the radio. It was an extraordinary moment for her and for the whole of the French team. I was so happy when she got her silver medal.
Marie through the eyes of Marine Gauthier…
Marie Marchand-Arvier in 3 words?
A fighter, funny, kind.
Her main technical and mental qualities?
She manages to pull her skis out of the gate very quickly, especially in Super G. I think that Marie is able to manage the pressure of the big events. Her medal at Val d’Isère at the World Championships is proof of this.
Any particular memory with her?
An evening we spent together in Zurich before going to Are for the finals.
We spent the whole evening chatting and she gave me lots of advice… I had a really good time.
