Rossignol’s Claudia Bouvier wins Telluride Big Mountain event!

Riders in this news :

Considering that Claudia is a park and pipe specialist, this win at Telluride’ stop of the IFSA big mountain tour this year is amazing.
Claudia skied strong and in control, and linked all her runs top to bottom fluidly. She led going into the finals and performed under pressure to earn the win. Congratulations is in order! Claudia’s next event is Slopestyle at the Dew Tour finals at North Star CA next week.

David Wise wins Aspen Open Half Pipe

On a perfect pipe under sunny skies, 18 year old Rossignol team member David Wise laid down a huge and technical half pipe run to win. It’s an amazing accomplishment considering the talent pool these days. The Aspen Open is a special event as it’s the only real open to happen in North America this year and takes place on the same course as X games which was 2 weeks prior, attracting the sports best fresh talent. The young kids have all the tricks with tons of style and many of the competitive runs from both the pipe and slopestyle course could have easily podiumed with the big names at X.

Rossignol was very well represented as it’s clear our MP force and reps have done a great job farming talent from local resorts. I met many kids this weekend for the first time and see a bright future with the brand for many of them.

Highlites include stylish and flawless pipe runs by Nathan Wood from Calgary. He was 5th overall. Along with David and Nathan there was tons of Rossi athletes throwing down and placing high on the result sheet. You’ll be hearing these names more in the future; Colin Vaykovich, Ryan Waddell, Dale Talkington, Clayton Vila, Sam Ferguson, Tim McChesney, Chapman Geer, Lucas Perin, Chris Logan and Parker White

Great job from the whole team. We’ll be releasing some webisodes from Aspen Open in the next week.

Here’s the David Wise story on Freeskier: www.freeskier.com/articles/article.php

Oxbow Back To Powder 2 : Mike Hopkins & Kye Petersen

Riders in this news :  Kye PETERSEN  ;

As you have noticed this week, Oxbow’s Back to Powder is on. Rules – or no rules – are simple; freestyle, backcountry kickers, freeride lines and the best skiers and snowboarders on earth. Mike Hopkins and Kye Petersen are there at Arèches’ resort, pretty bright eyed about how chill and perfectly shaped this whole thing is.

Check out Mike’s impressions about this first day just below;

Hey Mike, how do you feel about Oxbow’s Back to Powder?

“What is really great about the Back To Powder is that we are here with snowboarders, I mean, it’s really cool that skiers and snowboarders ride together. We are all here sleeping at the same place, we talk and laugh…I really like riding with my friends, enjoying that moment and seeing all the different skiing styles, I like it.
What is also really cool is that we are judging each other’s, it’s totally different from other competitions.
Shooting and filming means are so big! We can check back on how we scored right after our runs! Awesome!”

What are your season’s projects?

“I’m really looking forward the nest Red Bull event. I want to shoot and film as much as possible and I’m so excited about a freeride session in Chamonix, you can get updates on my website; www.mike-hopkins.com

What about 2010?

“ I want to stay “injury free”, I don’t wanna mess everything up with, I need this to stay cool and to focus on skiing. Then, I really want to travel as much as possible, travelling is essential ,it has to be linked with freeskiing, I need it.
Concerning my carreer, I want to shoot great photos and land some new tricks. I’m really focusing on freestyle and freeride at the same time.”
