This Saturday, December 20th, was the final for the first stop of Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge, Colorado. The top international riders were here to battle in halfpipe and slopestyle. The forecast for this day was pretty bad. Heavy snow, wind, and below zero temperatures made it nasty but the comp prevailed.
For slopestyle, local rider Bobby Brown took the 1st place with a huge second run: a switch Bio 10, to switch double cork to a huge kangaroo flip. Jossi Wells (NZ) and Henrik Harlaut took second and third place.
At 4pm, the lights fired on to show a perfect Breck Superpipe. There were two French Rossi riders, Kevin Rolland and Xavier Bertoni, along with 12 other masters of halfpipe. At that point the temperature was -22°F with 50 mph wind gusts. The riders pushed through and give a huge show. Tanner Hall won the contest with massive run. Xav Bertoni finished 6th with a nice technical run: switch cork 7 mute, cork9 tail, cork 9 reverse tail, flat 3.6 japan and switch cork 10. With more amplitude he would have been on the podium for sure.
It was Kevin Rolland’s first competition since a knee surgery last season. He wanted to prove that he was ready for serious competition and blew away his expectations by taking 7th place.
It’s a good start for the season for Rossignol. Stay tuned for updates on the rest of the competition season.
