Maria Pietilae-Holmner has signed her 6th World Cup career podium on Sunday. She finished second of the Slalom in Bormio behind Mikaela Shiffrin and ahead of Nastasia Noens. The racer from Rossignol Team comes back on a podium in Slalom after her third place in Giant Slalom in Val d’Isère. Bronze medallist in Slalom at 2011 World Championships, it’s her 4th career podium in this discipline after her victory in Aspen in 2011 and her two second places in Levi and Aspen in 2008 and 2010.
“This second place is like a victory for me. I felt like I could ski fast, I was good in training and I was fast in the last race in Lienz but I never made it down so I am super happy to have delivered today. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed being on the podium.”(Fis Alpine)
Marie-Michele Gagnon from Canada takes the 5th place and she moves up to 3rd in slalom World Cup rankings. “I’m happy with the result. It was one of those races where you have to be flexible and do whatever you can. It was half rain, half snow. I had a pretty tough time just to make it to the bottom in the second run because I was really wild but I was charging. It was pretty tough.”
