After her huge disappointment in Schladming with two 14th places in Super G and Downhill, Marie Marchand-Arvier has reacted this week-end in Meribel. Following a strong run on the “Roc de Fer” Downhill piste, the skier of les Contamines finished third and missed the 2nd place for a mere 0.01 seconds. Carolina Ruiz Castillo wins the first race of her career ahead of Maria Hoefl-Riesch.
Marie Marchand-Arvier signs her fifth career podium in World Cup and was very happy to be back on the top: “The piste was like a boulevard, so well prepared and so much fun to ski on. The last 2 months have been difficult for me. Being back on the podium is a relief and gives me a lot of motivation for the rest of the season. The ambition is back. I remember now why I get up every day to train so hard. I’m also so happy to see my friend and now team mate Carolina to get her first career victory.”
Marion Rolland, Downhill World Champion in Schladming, finishes 10th.
