Ofterschwang / Giant Slalom: First podium for Curtoni !

Riders in this news :  Irene CURTONI  ; Tessa WORLEY

It was a beautiful day in Germany for Team Rossignol during the first giant slalom of Ofterschwang. Irene Curtoni ends third equally with Elisabeth Goergl. The Italian, regularly in the Top 15 of the discipline, signs the first podium of her career.

On the fifth place and at only two hundredth of the podium, Jessica Lindell-Vikarby made a good result today. Rather specialized in speed disciplines, the Swede showed interesting things in giant. 8th in Sölden in the beginning of season, she marks the best result of her career in this event.

On the other hand, Tessa Worley realizes a small disappointing performance and loses her red bib of leader of giant's World cup. Seventh after the first leg, she will stay in this rank. Viktoria Rebensburg takes the 100 points of the victory today. The skier of the Grand-Bornand counts now 44 points of delay on the German but stays nevertheless in ambush.

Three other racers form Team Rossignol entered in the Top 15 : Federica Brignone (13th), Lara Gut (14th) and Anémone Marmottan (15th).

Junior World Championships: Cochran-Siegle in Gold!

Riders in this news :  Resi STIEGLER

The first men event of the Junior World Championships took place in Roccaraso in Italia. During the downhill, the American of Team Rossignol, Ryan Cochran-Siegle (bib 1)finishes first before Ralph Weber and Nils Mani. Mathieu Faivre (Rossignol), ends 4th.

Ryan Cochran-Siegle is born in 1972 and his mother is Barbara Ann Cochran, 1972 Olympic slalom gold medalist. The young American has begun in World Cup this year in Lake Louise. In Super G, he finishes two times in the thirty (29th in Beaver Creek and 26th in Crans-Montana). Congratulations to him!

The earlier you started today was definitely better. I had a good training the first day, but yesterday things didn't work out, and I was not expecting a win like this. The run was good, I like the terrain here, and it's a lot of fun. Surely it's special to have my mum here, winning in front of here makes me proud, and by taking the first win it definitely gives me more confidence for the coming races. I have good chances in super g, but in the technical races I will have to do my best". (Source: fisalpine.com)

Note that yesterday Petra Vlhova from Team Rossignol ends third. On Saturday, the girls will have a slalom and on Sunday, the boys will have a Super G.

Crans-Montana, Giant Slalom : Grange 4th, Defago 5th

Riders in this news :

Jean-Baptiste Grangegets closer to the podium! In delicacy with his back since the beginning of season, the skier of Valloire felt reassured during the giant of Crans-Montana. He signed the best time of the second run and made a big rise. Indeed, after the first run, he was only on the 20th place. He ends finally fourth. " I make a big fault in the first rund. It is not still ideal to make that in these conditions but I had calculated nothing. I said myself: " take your luck! " I ski well in giant. It is the World cup, I did well pleasure. There is nothing to say, anything to regret. My back is better in this discipline. I am satisfied with the way that is set up. It's perfect! " (Source : jbgrange.com)

Didier Defago ends fifth, his best place this season in the discipline. These good results added to Jan Hudec's performance, 2nd on Friday and 5th on Saturday in Super Giant, open beautiful perspectives to Team Rossignol for this end of season.

Crans-Montana : Hudec 2nd ! Zurbriggen and Innerhofer in the Top 6

Riders in this news :  Jan HUDEC

The first Super G of this Swiss weekend in Crans-Montana kept all its promises. Under the sun and in spite of high temperatures, the show and the suspense were there. Left with the number 6, Jan Hudec (Rossignol) benefited from perfect conditions and settled down at the head of the race after a very well run. In confidence since his victory in Chamonix in downhill few weeks ago, the Canadian held this first place until the run of Didier Cuche (number 20). The Swiss took control of the Super G for only sixteen hundredth.

Silvan Zurbriggen(Rossignol) also benefited from a very good number (bib 7) and he took advantage of it. This season is complicated for the Swiss. But, at home, he proved that he had the power to take place among the best. Third during a long time, he was dislodged by Benjamin Raich and ends on the fourth place, his best result in this discipline this season. In spite of a fall in the training last week, he showed that we can count on him this weekend.

In a race where the fifteen first ones are held on less than one second, Christof Innerhofer (Rossignol) achieved a nice run in spite of a high number and conditions of snow which do not suit to him necessarily. He ends sixth. This beautiful group result is thus necessarily promising for the end of the weekend. A Super G and a giant are scheduled.
