News of the Frenchwomen!

Riders in this news :  Marie MARCHAND-ARVIER  ; Marion ROLLAND

Marie Marchand-Arvier and Marion Rolland make you share their last feelings before the downhill and the Super Giant which will take place this weekend to Cortina d' Ampezzo!

Marie, how do you go after your fall during the second training? “I just slid, I would have certainly some bruises but it’s ok. It is a little bit frustrating because I was not able to finish but that is only the training. The most important, it is tomorrow!”

What were your feelings during the first training? “The slope is very well prepared this year and rather easy. I think that I wasn’t so engaged, but I am going to rectify it during the race.”

You had signed your first podium here in 2007, it is necessarily encouraging …
“Many persons like this place. I really have a particular story with Cortina. I have in heart to make beautiful races and to remain to concentrate on the present moment.

Marion, how took place the second training?
“Good even if the chronometer is not significant. It was very windy and we stopped before the area of arrival. I still miss important passages then I hope that tomorrow, I would have quite well set up.”

What are the particularities of this slope ?
“The snow is very hanging and it is not necessarily very fast. It is a rather simple slope and you must always search speed. Those who will be in front of, they will be the starved …”

Grange, 5th in Adelboden's slalom

Riders in this news :

Jean-Baptiste Grange signed his best result of the winter in Adelboden’slalom. Only 14th of the first leg, the world champion of the discipline realized a complete second run and takes a beautiful 5th place. This result is very interesting before the series of slaloms which he likes particularly with Wengen, Kitzbühel or still Schladming.

Wonderful victory of Didier Defago at Bormio !

Riders in this news :  Didier DEFAGO

Didier Defago wins the downhill of Bormio on the hard "Stelvio" and sign his return among the best. After a white season (break of the crossed ligaments), Swiss left no luck to his opponents today. It is the third victory of its career in downhill after Wengen and Kitzbühel. Congratulations!

“I didn't ski so well yesterday in the last practice run but I felt very comfortable today from top to bottom. I perfectly negotiated the main difficulties of the course and I even congratulated my injured left knee after crossing the finish line,” the skier from Morgins told the press afterwards.

“I was very happy to wear a low bib number today, I was hoping it would help me to achieve a strong run, but I didn’t expect to win that race, even when I saw that I was a little but faster than Patrick Kueng. I was aiming for a top-5 here. My main goal this season was a downhill podium,” also explained Defago who has reached a total of 16 podiums in all alpines disciplines except slalom in the last ten years.

“Apparently things went much faster for me than I thought in recent months. I guess the fact that I’m enjoying so much to be back on my racing skis after my injury strongly helped me to do so well here after reaching some promising results in recent races, including at Alta Badia where I did much better than expected in giant slalom.”

“I feel very serene now and I’m looking forward for the next exciting Swiss races at Adelboden and Wengen. I have already reached way more than expected at the season start, so I can be very relaxed now.”
