It was the first giant slalom of the season and the first victory for Lara Gut. After she has won the first run, the racer of the Team Rossignol has kept the lead and finished ahead of Austrian’s Kathrin Zettel (+0.84) and Germany’s Viktoria Rebensburg (+1.28). It’s her first victory in this discipline and Lara Gut was very satisfied: "It’s the first race of the season and there’s already a win, it’s amazing. I’m pretty happy to bring a giant slalom victory back to Switzerland. It’s a really nice feeling."
The results are good for all the Team Rossignol and most of the girls are happy to see that they could confirm their summer trainings. Maria Pietilae-Holmner ends 7th after two strong runs, Jessica Lindell Vikarby is 8th, Marie-Michele Gagnon 10th. The Canadian racer was happy to finish in the Top 10: “Overall I’m really happy to start the season like that – attacking. Especially in the first run, I made quite a few mistakes but I was still charging. I’m really happy with 10th. I was super excited to race today. I loved the crowd, the ambiance. I was just really happy to stop training and start racing.”
Please also note the very good performance of Adeline Baud, 20th on the finish. She just comes back from a knee injury!
The next stage for the ladies will be in Levi for slalom (16th November).
