Aksel Lund Svindal (NOR) wins the gold medal of the Downhill in Schladming ahead of Dominik Paris (ITA) and David Poisson (FRA).
Team Rossignol puts five racers on the Top 15 like in Super G. Silvan Zurbriggen, 6th, realizes a nice performance. The Swiss racer signed his best season result and was relieved after the race: “I’m happy. I was so unhappy after the Super G but I have taken confidence. I know that I can ski fast. It’s my best race this season”. His teammate Didier Défago was also satisfied of his race and his 8th place after a complicated season. “For the end of the season, this race is promising for me even if I would more. We are in the World Championships and we always expect a medal! I give all during the Downhill, it worked a little bit so I will continue like this.”
For his first participation to a World Championship, the young Brice Roger had bib number 1. It was a pressure for the skier of la Plagne who finally grabs the 15th: “I’m relieved now, I was so nervous this morning. I didn’t win training in downhill and add to the bib 1, I was afraid to do bad things. The good thing is that I stayed calm and that I take a 15th place, it’s very encouraging”.
Jan Hudec finishes 9th while Christof Innerhofer, bronze medallist in 2011 Downhill, ends finally 14th.
