Enzo : first news from NZ

17/Aug/2010

After few adventures, I'm well arrived in NZ but without my lugguages...

Anyway, our accomodation is a luxurious hotel with a big swimming pool, golf course and so on. Perfect place for waiting my stuff.

But we are in NZ in order to ski, so I leave with the Red Bull Camp. And the park is just amazing with a big airbag for training and an awesome step up. With the help of Red Bull and Rossignol, I find a board with bindings and boots, so perfect, now I can try this beautiful snowpark.

It's just gorgeous to ride with guys like Seb Toots, Mark Mc Morris, Stale Sandbech, Marko Grilc, Pat Moore...

After 3 days, my lugguages are here and Red Bull offers to us a bungee jumping in Queestow. I'm so excited and a little bit scared (134m of fall...). Finally, everything was right, I'm not dead !!!

This trip with Red Bull was amazing, I was be able to meet others riders and improve my english. Now, I go see the French riders !!!

XAVIER DE LE RUE: NEW FACES DONE AND GOOD TIME IN AK WITH DEEPER CREW

03/May/2010

"That's it... We're back to the civilised world and on our way out of Alaska!

There is a mix of joy to go back home to see my daughter Mila but at the same time I almost dropped a little tear leaving this spiny heaven. That deeper trip has been an amazing experience! It's been not that easy at the beginning to get into the rhythm after the wind had affected the snow, we got then stuck for 6 days in a big storm with over two and a half meters of fresh. That kept us pretty busy shovelling our tents two three times a day until the point where we all had to move our tents out of these gigantic snow holes, getting wet,..and sort of staying wet after that.... Nevertheless I enjoyed that stormy period. It was cool to feel the nature around us going crazy, while we where sitting there in our tents feeling really far away from the "real" world!

When the sun came, we spent half a day on small lines checking out the snow conditions until we decided to get back on the alpine start missions. 3 am take off, for this first huge spiny face. The sunrise was amazing, really bright pink...9 am mission accomplished.  I had never ridden such steep loaded and fat spiny face. I really realized on that trip the benefit of these Haines typical spines in term of snow stability, and it's been great to take advantage of that stability to get into gnarly lines. We had to work our way around big cornices but once we had reached our entry point, it just became pure intense pleasure... chest deep powder spines...

After that first one, we had decided to move camp and head towards the Canadian boarder to try to get that untouched face called "corrugated"... the name actually tells everything. The deeper crew had tried to reach it last year but couldn’t get it done. This year we found a good base camp spot right on the boarder that could give us a relatively close access. 2.30 am the next day we start to make our way towards Canada to get there at sun rise to catch that very short period of light on that north face. Once again the cornices crown the whole face and it's really hard to find an entry but we still manage to find a decent one and after a bit of roped up shovelling we are ready to hit our last project. At 7.18am, Josh Dirksen, Jeremy Jones, Ryland Bell and myself have ridden these 600 meters corrugated spines.

All these faces we've been on had never been ridden... It's been a privilege to discover Haines that way... Can't wait to see the movie coming out in September...

Time for summer now..."

European final of Peanut Butter Rail Jam

03/May/2010

Report from Marion Haerty, team Rossignol Snowboard :

"Laax and the european final of Peanut Butter Rail Jam, it was so great. We had had some difficulties with Mappy in order to access to Laax with 10 hours drive instead of 6...

But Swiss are so likeable, I love to do contest like this where people comes from everywhere.
The park was good, there was a rail with a kink and a big pipe. I would have wanted to test new tricks but it was really difficult during the trainings so I stayed on a boardslide 180. I finished fifth..."

Xavier de Le Rue on his way Deeper in AK

20/Apr/2010

It's been three days since Tero and I made it to Haines and finally we've loaded the plane to take off at sunset tomorrow morning and join the deeper crew for some new adventures!
Two weeks of camping with Jeremy Jones, Josh Dirksen, Lucas Debari, Ryland Bell, Tom Burt, Chris Edmands, Tero Repo…It's apparently pretty sick up there, the terrain and snow conditions seem to be amazing. Can't wait to find out what it's gonna be like!

Xavier de Le Rue in AK part II : insane riding in Valdez with Standard Films and on his way to camping project in Haines with Deeper

14/Apr/2010

“4 days of good weather in a row. Insane snow! A good foot of fresh snow made me feel like I finally got to ride the real AK deal. Huge sloughs, some surface cracks here and there that kept our eyes opened but no big deal. We got on some kick ass terrain; some 1800 feet spine faces ... I'm stocked! It's been really cool to share that with Sammy Luebke, he really rocked with his smile and charging style. We definitely had some good fun...
Time to head to Haines and join Jeremy's crew for some AK camping. I can't wait to live that experience, and hopefully get on some more nice terrain...!”

AK filming mission with Xavier de Le Rue

07/Apr/2010

“Just got to AK 4 days ago. Two standard films crews are on site, on one side Kevin Jones and Mark Carter getting shot by Chris Ondercin and Curley for stills. On our side Sammy Luebke joined the euros composed by Guido Perrini on the filming duty, Tero Repo taking pics and myself. We've been so far pretty lucky with already two good days and more to come. Sammy is ripping and got straight away into our program... Most of all, snow is great, stable... we have some good lines in the head, not much more to say than that we are pretty stocked to be up here! The end of the week seems sunny so just have a look at the pictures... no need to say that it might be pretty sick....fingers crossed!”

Marion Haerty ends up Slopestyle Vice Champion at the french championship in La Plagne.

07/Apr/2010

Marion Haerty which is riding for rossignol for few years now showed great level of riding at the french championship in la Plagne. She stomped a bs 360° mellon on the first jump, linked it with silky smooth boardslide revert on the rainbow rail, then she went for a classic nose grab on the biggest jump during her best run, she later on stomped a clean fs 360° on her second run on the same jump. And she ended up her run on the gap to flat rail with a perfect boardslide.
Marion will be riding on les 2 alpes Glacier this summer and shooting few days with Matt Georges so expect to see more pictures of her pretty soon.

1st : Lou Chabelard
2nd : Marion Haerty
3rd : Mirabelle Thovex

PS : Girls got mixed up and they have switched 2nd and 3rd place on the podium.

Xavier de Le Rue : New (very fast) line at Nissan Xtreme Verbier by Swatch and Three-peat world champion title

24/Mar/2010

Xavier de Le Rue opened a new line with a new cliff in the Bec des Rosses and makes it a Three-peat while earning his third Freeride World Tour Champion title and his second victory in a row at Nissan Xtreme Verbier presented by Swatch.

Enjoy the video of Xavier’s winning run

Here are Xavier’s comments

About his line: “I saw this cliff that could open a new line a month ago and thought it was doable if the snow conditions were great and that it would be good and exciting to come up with something new. I could have played it safe to secure the tour title but I wouldn’t have been satisfied doing it. What I like most about those contests is that it helps me to push my limits and give me the chance to focus and study lines and faces for few days. I’ve approached each contest like a filming session and no average line make it into any movies. I knew it would go super fast and that didn’t help me to sleep well the nights before today. I wanted to show my best level and this line felt good for that, I’m glad it worked out how I’d planned it.

About the Nissan Xtreme by Swatch, 15th anniversary of the event: “The conditions weren’t great enough to run the whole comp on saturday, I’m glad the riders boards and organisers decided to run the whole comp today as it’s been by far the best riding level ever seen during a freeride event. Good snow and sun is a boost for motivation as well as riding here with legends such as Axel Pauporté who was a forerunner or Steve Klassen who finished 5th. Winning this comp on this legendary face is always an achievement, keeping my freeride world champ title feels very good too. The Freeride World Tour is getting better each season and I’ll be back next year to share again good moments and experience with this tight group of friends.”

About the end of the season: “The tour is over but the filming season just started, I’m off for AK in a week, to film for Standard Films, then I have plans to shoot with TGR for Deeper in AK or in Europe. Then I have a trip planned out with The North Face and Transworld in Greenland and I’ll end up late season in the steeps in May or June around Chamonix. A busy program before well deserved summer holidays
